How it works
- Free consultation and site visit — We come out, look at your lot, and talk through what you want to build and why.
- Design and plans — We prepare the plans for your ADU, or set up one of the City of Westminster’s pre-approved detached ADU plans for your lot (City of Westminster – ADU Preapproved Standard Plan), and walk you through them before anything is submitted.
- City permits — We submit to the City of Westminster and follow the review through.
- Construction — Our team builds your ADU and keeps you updated along the way.
- Final inspection — The city does its final inspection, and your new unit is ready to live in.

If your project is only an ADU or JADU, Westminster runs zoning and building review together in one plan check. Three city divisions look at it: Planning, Building and Engineering. You can file in person or online through the Westminster Build portal. After approval the city issues the building permit, and inspections happen while we build.
